Most of our planting sites are in sub-Saharan Africa, but we just acquired our first site in the USA! In general, we target tropical regions where we can plant trees that absorb the maximum amount of carbon dioxide.

We do extensive research to ensure that we are planting indigenous trees: species that are local to the lands we plant on. These trees have a higher survival rate, improve local habitats, and foster biodiversity. 

We tag each tree individually and aim to provide periodic updates on our tree planting operations and the individual tree that you are sponsoring. We will continue to increase the frequency of these updates and will soon have a tech-enabled platform to enhance the donor experience. 

While there are many important technical solutions to climate change, we believe that tree planting — specifically rejuvenating deforested lands — remains a critical part of the equations. In addition to absorbing carbon dioxide, trees provide additional benefits to local ecosystems, wildlife, and human communities. Also, everyone loves trees! In a polarized world, tree planting is a simple, effective, and low-risk approach to climate change that donors understand and can connect with.
